Frequently Asked Questions

I’m interested in doing a MMA bout, what do I need to do in order to schedule one?

If you want to do a MMA event you will first need to get approval from our staff. This is so we can make sure 100% that you are ready and able to compete.  Once our staff feels you’re competent, they will work with you from that point on to schedule an event. Entering a MMA event without being prepared and knowing what you are doing can have serious consequences!

Do I have to sign a long term contract?

No, we offer a 3 month, 6 month, 9 month, or 1 year membership.  Your membership is for unlimited classes and if for any reason you need to get out of your agreement with us, all you have to do is give 30 days notice and $150 cancellation fee.

Why Should I train with a gi on?

Training with a gi or kimono improves your technique tremendously.  With the gi on your opponent has many more handles to hang on to, many more chokes to apply and extremely tight armbars, etc.  The best way to improve your no gi Jiu Jitsu game is to put a gi on and learn how to defend your neck, your arm and escape positions while your opponent has control of your gi.  When you take the gi off you feel a little more free not having to defend so many collar chokes and grips.  To get the finest technique possible you need to train 50% with the gi on and 50% with it off.

What if I want private lessons?

We are available for private lessons Monday through Saturday depending on the instructors schedule and your schedule.  Each of our instructors has their own fee for lessons, so the best thing to do would be to ask the instructor directly what their fee is.  If you do not have an instructors phone number we will gladly give it to you. Just call the main gym number at (541)912-9099

How quickly can I become a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

The fastest way to get rank in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is to compete.  If you are a blue belt and you are continually winning tournaments then you probably are ready for your purple belt.  However, you don’t have to compete in order to get your rank.  It’s impossible to “buy” your black belt training here.  We don’t have a “black belt program” with testing fees.  On average it can take up to 10 years to receive your black belt, each one of our black belt instructors has been training well over this amount of time.

Why is there a White Belts ONLY Jiu Jitsu Class?

We realize that walking into a huge Jiu Jitsu class your first day is intimidating, so we have created an hour for beginners only so they can ease into Jiu Jitsu with other people with little to no experience.  This class will help take the edge off learning in the beginning.

I want to start training, where can I buy equipment?

The best place to buy equipment is online.  If you go to google and type in what you are looking for you will get plenty of responses.  Also we have a list of retailers at the gym with their web address and phone number.
You might be able to find some training equipment here locally at Sports Authority or Play it Again Sports.
