Jeet Kune Do / Filipino Martial Arts

You’re in a situation where confrontation is unavoidable.  Maybe you’re at the ATM and someone approaches you with a weapon, or you’re at dinner with your spouse and child and a drunken assailant brings confrontation to you.

Are you going to know what to do if you have to physically defend yourself or a family member?

You have no control over who will attack you, where you’ll be, or when you will be attacked. None of us want to have a situation like this, but sometimes it’s unavoidable.

The Jeet Kune Do class is designed for moments like these.

Jeet Kune Do (JKD) was developed by Bruce Lee in the 60’s and 70’s.  It’s a philosophical art which means it’s based on concepts and philosophy.  Jeet Kune Do literally means “way of interception” and emphasizes economy of motion.  Classes combine arts like Filipino Martial Arts, Boxing, Thai Boxing, Savate and Jiu Jitsu to make students a more well rounded martial artist.

Each practitioner in JKD is going to be different in there own way – different height, weight, athleticism etc. Because of this difference the individual has to train what works for them specifically. Just as if you were going to drive someone else’s car you would have to adjust a few things like the seat, mirror and the steering wheel etc.
This is where a great instructor fits in.  A great instructor has the ability to look at each student and “tailor fit” the arts to their individuals’ needs so that it works for them specifically.

Training to a live conga beat, learning street awareness, getting a great sweat on, having fun learning more about yourself and your ability is what the JKD class is all about!
